The first time I saw Vou up close & personal was at our first ever TEDxSuva event where Sachiko Soro was one of the speakers. Her talk was inspiring, motivational and it also changed my perception about performing arts and has made me more appreciative of the work our local arts, music and dance do.
I heard raving reviews from my friend Lisa about this performance and she invited me along with her other wonderful friends to watch Vou Fiji Untold Story. We course showed up fashionably on Fiji time and of course the show started in sync with that time.
Also know, that this was a SOLD-OUT show! We sat there stylish sipping red and the show started with great mood and panache! Beautiful singing and dance. My favourite moment was when the protagonist leaped and was caught in a mat and of course I got emotional towards the end. Ok I won’t give any spoilers because I hear they will be showing again in August, right here in Suva.
Vou Fiji Untold Story is a performance that you must watch. The dancers wear their hearts on their sleeves as they perform, hard to keep your eyes off! Also, it’s hard to keep your eyes off them, I mean, have you looked at how gorgeous all the dancers are (giggles)! The choreography takes you on a journey and keeps you hooked till the very end.
COVID-19 has been brutal to everyone. But what I find inspiring is that all of us are working hard to make ends meet. I find our performing arts and fashion sector putting in so much work and they need our support. So next time you hear of shows, performances or music gigs happening, go for it and take yourself, your friends and family.
And Dear Vou, you guys are incredibly talented and continue to inspire! Looking forward to seeing more and more performances.
