A weekend at Matanivusi Eco Resort...

I was not sure what to expect when I signed us up for a weekend away at Matanivusi Beach Eco Resort. Safe to say, we had a great time!

Matanivusi Beach Eco Resort describes itself as a premier eco resort. It has 12 beachfront rooms only and is a must visit if you like uncrowded, quiet, and more tailored to your need’s kind of an escape. The resort is located at a turn off, just past Korovisilou Village, and no there is no signage out front so you will need to rely on directions from the resort. Perhaps why many of us would not have heard of this place before.

The cost per night includes accommodation, meals and activities and I think it is worth the spend. The meals and drinks were great with efficient service delivery. All the staff remember your name and make you feel right at home.

I loved how the resort is nestled on the coastline but also in the lush jungle greenery and true to its essence of being a sustainable eco resort. The rooms are nice, comfortable, well kept, clean and airy. We did not, miss not having a television in the room because there are heaps of other things to do to keep busy and with the right company you don’t really need it.

They offer a range of activities, or you can just laze around the resort and unwind. We went paddle boarding, snorkelling out at the reef, almost went surfing (but woke up late) and just chilled. Given that the resort is small, you end up making friends with the staff and other fellow guests.

The banyan trees are incredible, and the resort has built its platform and yoga studio around it. Of course, it is an instagrammable moment not to be missed!

I would definitely go back now that I know what all to expect. I have no in-between when it comes to packing, I either over pack or under pack and this time I under packed! So, if you do visit, make sure to also pack reef shoes and swim skins or wet suits, otherwise you will end up with coral bruises like me. Visit their website for more information here
