TEDxSuva 2016

I heard of TED Talks before but i only came to know of TEDxSuva through a friend Lisa. In fact, i remember meeting Lisa in passing and she was like "Hey if you got time on your hands come join the committee!".

So i think within that week i sent her a message saying when is the next meeting etc etc. So i joined the TEDxSuva commitee as part of the communications teams! I was excited to be part of this first ever event and work alongside such cool and creative individuals.

Raijeli Nicole is the Licensee for TEDxSuva and this year's event was put together by Solstice Middleby and Lisa Kingsberry.

Everyone on the committee has full time jobs but were still eager and enthusiastic to make this event happen.

With the theme Voyage, a wonderful line up of speakers was put together and their talks were innovative, inspiring and thought provoking. My favorite talks from the line up, had to be Jope Tarai "Rethinking the Fijian Man" and Dr Austin Bowden Kerby talk.

Another highlight of the evening was FOOD! Us Fijians love food, and it just gets better with Niu Grills cooking up a storm and feeding everyone yummy yummy food during the breaks.

A lot of work went into putting together the bits and pieces. What was months of preparations seemed to be over in seconds for me! It was funny at times even though stressing, because we were running around last minute trying to sort things out like, audience t shirts and other goodies. Amidst all this, there were hilarious encounters and incidents that surrounded us.

It was unbelievable that we went through 7 speakers and breaks flawlessly, it all seemed to end just like that! At the end of the event, i was teary because we had delivered an event that was commendable.

The feedback received from the audience was so mind blowing! Everyone that walked out of that room was taking something home. It was incredible to hear all this chatter about how thought provoking the talks were.

I was so glad to be part of the committee and work alongside such talented individuals that were able to work together as a family and achieve success.
