Tropical Christmas!

Christmas. My favorite time of the year! Growing up, Christmas was always special to us. From getting the tree set up and house decorated, to baking and yummy food. My mom is a good cook and baker. So my sisters and i, without doubt are of course the same.

I enjoy baking and have safe kept all of my mom's recipes. This Christmas, i spent a lot of time baking and baking and baking! My favorite Christmas goody to bake is the shortbread Christmas cookies! If you would like the recipe, let me know and i am happy to share.

For Christmas in Fiji, most families are either putting together a lovo, putting on a BBQ or currying a goat/duck or chicken. It is all about food and family.

We had bought a goat and of course to the curry pot it went. We had family and friends come over through out the day. So it was all about catching up over food.

Also at Christmas (and of course during other festivals), it is a time where neighbors also exchange gifts or share food.

This time of the year also means heat waves, like major heat waves that it is hard to deal with. Well, on a blistering hot day i write this brief story and nibble on cookies that i baked. I mean it is hard not to and once you start its hard to stop. I hope you all have a wonderful festive season and enjoy the coming year!
