Take a bow & aim- Archery much?

We thought Suva was running out of things for us to do and see. Fortunate for us, we heard about Suva Archery by Olympian Robert Elder and that they were offering "come and try archery sessions." The sessions are on Saturdays at St Joseph Ground.

So myself, Kamal (my husband) his brother and friend turned up for these sessions. There was a group of people already training so we stood around watching for a bit and teasing each other about how bad we are going to be at this!

The instructor welcomed us and showed us how to hold the bow, arrow and sling. We were given the nearest distance (which i cannot remember) to shoot at. We took turns and after failed attempts at the first round we were finally getting the hang of it.

Soon we were feeling pretty cool and fancy with the bows and arrows! In fact archery is a fun sport and seasoned athletes from Suva Archery have went on to represent Fiji in various competitions overseas such as the South Pacific Games and even at the last Olympic Games.

We spent a a few fun hours on a Saturday afternoon trying to hit bulls-eye but failing of course....close yet far!!

Suva Archery also runs classes for kids as well as adults who are wanting to try their hand at this! So next time your whining about having nothing at all to do in Suva on a Saturday....check this out!

Anyway, i love the below picture of me because i look lethal! But i look LIT for sure!

Oh and by the way, you can check out their Facebook page called Suva Archery.
